Fertility decline in male after 40 years

A medical study prepared by French researchers has shown for the first time that male fertility starts to decline from age 40, just as happens to women after 35 years.

The investigation was conducted by the team of Dr. Elise de La Rochebrochard, a member of the National Institute of Health of France (ISERM), and its results are collected in May, the number of its U.S. magazine “Fertility and Sterility.”

According to the French scientific, “the growing number of couples who delayed the birth of their children must be informed that try paternity over 40 years carries a significant risk of failure in the design.”

The medical team led by La Rochebrochard analyzed the cases of nearly 2,000 couples undergoing fertility treatments.

The investigation concluded that, whatever the woman’s age when the male has 40 or more years, attempts at conception have a 70 per cent more likely to fail when that man does not exceed 30 years.
