Chocolate Is Good for diabetics?

A new study reveals that one of the natural compounds in cocoa can help the heart function of patients with type 2 diabetes.

An investigation published in Journal of the American College of Cardiology (Journal of American College of Cardiology), says that hot chocolate could become part of the methods of preventing cardiovascular disease.

But this is not any chocolate. The study was carried out with a drink chocolate specially formulated rich in flavonols. These are compounds that are found naturally in cocoa, tea, red wine and some fruits and vegetables.

The study conducted by German scientists, followed patients with type 2 diabetes who had been prescribed three cups of chocolate enriched daily for a month. Scientists found that the arteries of patients (who were heavily damaged) regained their normal duties.

The improvement was so great, say the researchers, such as that seen with exercise and medications that are commonly prescribed to diabetics.

Drinking chocolate used in the study, which it is not yet available commercially, a version was enriched with high concentrations of flavanoles.
